Damaging

This topic was on my heart lately and God was directing me to jot a few things down without making a big deal out of it. After I read an article on Charisma Magazine's website about the National Prayer Day Against Pornography and after being stirred to do something against pornography by a question ("Before the end of the year, will you please do something to confront the harms of pornography directly?"), I've committed to write a post about some cruel facts.

Here are some facts about pornography:

-addiction to pornography has led to: 40% of “sex addicts” lost their spouses; 58% suffer considerable financial losses; one-third lose their jobs
- a 2004 study published in Social Science Quarterly found that pornography use increases the marital infidelity rate by more than 300%.
- American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers found that "an obsessive interest in Internet pornography" was a significant factor in 56 percent of their divorce cases.
- many partners feel that pornography is a devastating betrayal and describe pornography as just as painful or more painful than what we describe as a traditional affair/infidelity.
- more than 50% of those engaged in “sexual Internet interactions” had lost interest in sexual intercourse. One-third of their partners had lost interest as well. (These points are taken from articles on the site www.PornHarmsResearch.com)

On December 10, thousands of people will join together in a National Day of Prayer to strengthen the fight against pornography. “The war on pornography can only be won with the blessing of almighty God, and we humbly join together to seek that blessing,” says Patrick Trueman, president of Morality in Media. “This day is set aside to help those who are struggling with pornography addictions as well as their families, and to inspire and encourage those involved in this fight.”

"Pornography is inherently dehumanizing, sexually exploitative and an affront to God. Not only does it lead to addiction and the breakdown of families, but porn is also strongly tied to violence against women, sex trafficking and child abuse." (Charisma News)
