Soli Deo Gloria

I want to share with you the foundation which my family founded and through which it tries to be a light to this world!

Charity Christian Mission “Soli Deo Gloria”
„For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility” (Ephesians 2:14)
The Charity Christian Mission „Soli Deo Gloria“ was founded in 1994 in order to fulfill the mission given in Mark 16:15-18: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” and provide help to Christians according to Jesus’ command in Mathew 5:16: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven”.

The Latin phrase "Soli Deo Gloria” means “only for the glory of God”. It was used along the history by artists, organizations and schools. We have considered it important to choose this name, because we wish that each staff member, supporter and participant at our programs understands that we solely want to do our work for God's glory. Our work has started in the nineties with relief actions. We made donations to poor families. In various crisis situations we helped individuals or families with donations, transportation or counseling. Roma families around Sighisoara (Romania), have had for years our support. We have helped them find jobs and we have encouraged Roma children to attend school. We have also worked with other foundations and associations and are always open to partnerships and collaboration.
Earlier this year (2013), we have begun to offer activities for pupils from our town. We have built up our activities from January to June and have worked on the basis of donations. Each family gave after possibilities more or less for the activities in which they participated.
Here's what we could offer in the previous months with success:
- Homework support: for children with learning problems, but not only;
- a crafts workshop
- aerobics: exercises for mothers with children, teenagers, people all ages;
- puppet theater shows;
- a reading club;
- a christian children's club;
- birthday party service;
Unfortunately, in this summer we had to give up the place in which we had our activities. The high costs of rent and then the consumption of electricity, gas, and water have overwhelmed us. Donations from our activities have not been enough to cover all costs.

We are glad nevertheless, that we have accomplished so much with limited resources and few staff. We do not give up and are looking to understand God's will, we want to recognize open doors and make good decisions.

We would like to resume our activities with the start of the new school year (September 16), but we need to hold new premises, financial resources to sustain our work. In addition to the services offered until now, we would love to start new ones, such as a parent-toddler program to build a community between mothers and to provide advice and assistance in early childhood education. We also would love to offer young children a day care center during the week so that mothers have the opportunity to have some time off. We would also wish to begin to offer services to Roma children, but we need resources, employees and volunteers. Our dreams and goals stretch far out, but we want to gradually overcome the obstacles so that we can grow as a healthy group of people helping people. Your support is always welcome and will be used solely for the glory of God. Money alone is neither good nor evil in itself, it depends on what you do with it, depending on whether it is used meaningful or abused as a means of power.
